Time To Volunteer

Volunteer

This fund drive is over.  We haven’t heard the results.

K’s Summer mini Fund Drive is in full throttle, and it’s time to phone bank and make a contribution.

Donate a few hours to the station between now and August 23 to help keep the funddrive on track.  You can schedule your time with the volunteer coordinator, Jessie Wood at 818-985-2711 x513 or email her. We find that just showing up and pitching in works too. For more information, see http://www.kpfk.org/volunteer.html.

Don’t forget to make your contribution at http://www.kpfk.org/ or by calling 818-985-5735. Our station needs us.

Election Irregularities before the balloting even begins

August 9th, 2010 Comments

We are still waiting for the approval of fee-waivers for listener-sponsors unable for financial and other reasons to donate time or money to the station, as required. This allows poor, disabled and other people who could not otherwise join to become full participating members of KPFK.

Meanwhile, ballots are supposed to go out Monday, August 16 (by third class mail), and should be in voters’ hands by September 1. The deadline to return them is the end of September. If you believe you are an eligible voter and have not received your ballot by September 1, let us know and also call the station switchboard (818-985-2711) and ask to speak to the local elections supervisor. In the past, many people have been forced to vote by “challenge ballot” at the last minute with inadequate provisions for the security or secrecy of the ballot.

TakeBackKPFK endorses the GrassrootsKPFK campaign for LSB

August 9th, 2010 Comments

A positive alternative to the forces that are attacking free speech radio from within has emerged. GrassrootsKPFK is a set of principles agreed to by a group of human rights, social and environmental justice and labor activists. They are backing a number of candidates who have agreed to those principles not only for the election campaign season, but for the duration of the struggle necessary to make their implementation a reality at KPFK and the Pacifica Foundation and network. For more information, you can check out their website, www.grassrootskpfk.net
